True Colors, Real Beauty

images-6

Fall is truly a beautiful time of year.  The crisp cool air. The smells of chimney fires. The colors of the leaves…I was walking with my youngest daughter the other day.  We collected leaves for her science lesson that week.  She was excited to share with me things she was learning about leaves.  How chlorophyll in the leaves made them appear green during the spring and summer.  But changes in fall weather cause the trees to stop producing chlorophyll.  This causes the leaves to turn shades of red, yellow, green and brown. Thus showing their true colors!

People are like these leaves.  At times, we try so hard to be like those around us. We become attached to a group, get hired by a company or join an organization.  We wear the uniform, perform the same drills and practice the same beliefs. Not that this is bad. But we lose a bit of our individuality.  The real beauty in our communities, cities, states, and countries is in our individuality. Are you fulfilling your individuality by displaying your true colors to the world?

The United States is a melting pot.  People come from all over the world to live here because of the freedoms we enjoy. They come for freedom of religion, for education, for opportunity! They all want the same things, but it is their uniqueness that really makes them ALL beautiful.

In Revelation 7:9 we read: “After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people, and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb…”  I like this verse because it talks about the beauty of ALL the peoples God has created. A song taught to many kids in Sunday School has a line that goes: “…red and yellow, black and white, they are precious in His sight…” red and yellow, black and white reminds me of the fall leaves and this verse from Revelation.  Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy this video of the Revelation song!
